Helpline Advisor

Citizens Advice in West Sussex

We are excited to be expanding our advice team with additional digital advisors to deliver our helpline and digital work. We are looking for someone with busy call centre or digital advice experience, and we will train you on the advice skills you will need if necessary. We are looking for someone with outstanding customer service skills, excellent listening skills and able to provide high quality advice whilst meeting targets on busy channels. You will be resourceful, able to work independently but be a real team player so more people receive essential advice and help, making a real difference to the lives of the people we support. The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a busy helpline environment delivering independent advice but training will be provided for the right candidate who can demonstrate a passion for making a difference and the ability to learn complex information quickly.

Job outline: We are passionate about advice and passionate about volunteering. Here at Citizens Advice in West Sussex, we are looking for someone with the drive and commitment to lead in recruiting, training and supporting our volunteers. You will play a key role in training and supervising new advice volunteers, working with them and advice supervisors to coach them to pass their advice assessments, check quality and build a fantastic team.
You will need excellent communication and coaching skills, able to assess against criteria, excellent record keeping and innovative ways of recruiting volunteers into the team. Ideally you will have knowledge and experience of social welfare advice but training will be provided for the right candidate.

Job outline: We are recruiting a Macmillan Welfare Benefits Advisor with experience of casework to join our team helping cancer patients cope with the financial impact of cancer. You will use your specialist knowledge to maximise income for patients, applying for benefits and grants, challenge incorrect decisions and represent at Social Security Tribunals. You will have excellent communication skills and able to breakdown complex information for different audiences, able to work independently but also as a team player. Whilst this is predominantly a face to face service based in hospital outreach locations you will also deliver through other digital channels and able to use IT and case management systems remotely.
A trainee would be considered for this role based on existing experience, salary would be reflective.

Debt Advice Caseworker / Trainee

We are recruiting a Debt Advice Caseworker / Trainee who can engage skilfully with clients who are vulnerable and distressed and who is passionate about giving an effective service to those most in need. You will be based within and employed by a local Citizens Advice outlet. You will be trained to give advice across channels including face-to-face, telephone, email and web chat. You will receive project funder accredited advice-level training within 12 weeks of starting your employment, with further specialist level training to follow.
